Mutual Self Help Housing Program     happy house logo

KCCHA has been offering the USDA's Mutual Self Help Program in Kitsap and surrounding counties since 1973.

In 2009 our home plans changed to become energy efficient.  All plans are now third party verified to meet  Northwest Energy Star's requirements, they exceed Washington State's Evergreen Standard and achieve all 3 stars in the Kitsap Built Green Program.  We have reached this level of efficiency by using radiant floor heating, advanced framing techniques, high value insulation and high performance windows combined with air leakage testing and sealing.

This unique and rewarding program allows income eligible applicants the opportunity to own their own home by participating in groups of 8 - 14 families to build each others homes with lot of help and training from KCCHA.  Mortgage (principal and interest) are based on your income, not the current market interest rate, and therefore are generally more affordable at of below 80% of the county median income as determined by HUD.
